You don't need to be technical to use a VPN on iPhone. The setup is genuinely under a minute.
The setup
- Open the App Store and search FREE VPN FAST.
- Tap Get and install.
- Open the app. On first launch, iOS will ask permission to add a VPN configuration. Tap Allow and confirm with Face ID / Touch ID / your passcode.
- Tap the big Connect button. You're done.
That's it. The VPN now runs in the background until you turn it off.
A few useful tips
How to know it's actually on
Look at the top of the screen — you should see a small VPN indicator next to the time. If you don't, the connection didn't establish; tap Connect again.
Choosing a country
Free users get an auto-selected fast server. If you want to pick a specific country (for example, to access a regional streaming service), upgrade to Premium and the country picker becomes active.
Killing the VPN quickly
You can toggle the VPN off without opening the app:
- Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → VPN → toggle off, or
- Add the VPN toggle to Control Center (Settings → Control Center → Add VPN).
When the connection drops
Most of the time, a network hiccup is the cause. Quick checklist:
- Toggle Airplane Mode on and off.
- Try another server / region (Premium).
- Force-quit the app (swipe up from the bottom and swipe the app away).
- If you're on a restrictive network — school, office, certain hotels — enable Obfuscation in the app's settings (Premium).
Battery
A VPN does use a small amount of extra battery. On a modern iPhone, the difference is usually under 5% per day in normal use.
That's all you need to know. Connect once, forget it's there.
